When the rules changed mid-year, the funding doubled
At the International Rescue Committee in San Jose, I helped deliver economic mobility programs for refugee, asylee and unhoused households under a City of San Jose partnership.
Mid-year, a state policy change tightened who was eligible. Instead of waiting for the quarter to close, we reworked outreach toward households that still qualified and brought our funders into revised targets early.
Funding grew from roughly $250K to $500K, on the strength of what the first year had shown. Over two years the program reached more than 1,200 households.
